Good People, Good Humor, and Ranch Lessons

As my time up here is winding down, I realize what a blessing it is to be with good people, both at work and when we have time off. No matter how big of country or how good the string is, I think the largest part of enjoying your time at a place is treating people as best as you can. It is sometimes difficult to see what all somebody needs, but if you can bring joy in the morning, that is a good start. A little humor can make a long day seem shorter and make work more enjoyable for everyone.
This week was filled with a lot of shop work and getting equipment going and preventing future issues. On the practical side, this is good because I am not very mechanical, but getting under a lot of different stuff with differing problems is helpful for the mind to think through things. I think being in the shop helps you to see outside issues with a unique frame of mind and gives you more confidence the next time something breaks. That was helpful later in the week when a main submersible pump went out. We sourced one in Billings, and I got it replaced by the afternoon. That is a good reason to have large tanks if your system fails, because they buy some time until you get your problem solved.
The weeks continue to go faster, and it is important to step back and realize what I am getting out of each day and where I can apply this. Every week seems to bring new challenges, and each one is another opportunity to learn something that will be useful in the future.
