INTERN Application
The goal of every GrowinG Internship is to provide safe, educational learning experiences for the intern.
- Interns are an individual 18 years or older who identifies as someone who is interested to begin farming/ranching or has been involved with their own agricultural enterprise for less than 10 years. Applicants need NOT be students.
- Interns are expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times.
- Interns will resolve any issues directly related to the host farm/ranch, such as work schedule, amenities, internet access, issues with other ranch employees, etc. with the host farm/ranch manager or their designated representative and the GrowinG Internship Program.
- Interns are urged to keep the lines of communication open between all parties to ensure that problems are addressed as soon as possible and to allow time to identify possible solutions.
- Interns will work with host(s) to set a work schedule that is appropriate to the time commitment of the program (10 weeks), for the interns’ schedule, and for any time off needed.
- Interns must give at least one week’s notice for any time off and receive host approval.
- Interns are responsible for providing a mandatory Work Summary of experience each week of the 10-week internship. Work Summaries help the intern reflect on day-to-day work and educational experiences. Work Summaries provide proof of work/education for college credit. (Any college credit must be arranged between the intern and the granting educational institution).
- Interns participate in at least one agricultural educational event within the time frame of the internship. The host and intern are encouraged to attend / participate in the educational event together to ensure that education is related to the internship. Participation in more than one event is encouraged but must be approved by the host.
- Interns understand that termination of internship can happen at any time and that interns and hosts can resign from their responsibilities by contacting the GrowinG Internship Program to arrange a meeting time (via phone, zoom or in person) to discuss the reasons for withdrawal from program. We ask that you provide at least 2-weeks notice to allow us to relocate the intern.
